Bonnie Langford stars in Spamalot‘s Duck Sauce remake

Move over Barbra Streisand, there’s a new novelty music video in town, and we challenge other West End companies to match it

Bonnie Langford has told WhatsOnStage she is “extremely flattered” to be the subject of a music video made by her Spamalot co-stars.

The company’s alternative version of Duck Sauce’s chart-topper “Barbra Streisand” has clocked up over 1,000 views since it went live on YouTube last week.

Langford revealed the idea came on the back of West End Eurovision, the charity gala for which West End casts make special ‘ident’ videos.

“Following the euphoria of West End Eurovision, the company wanted another project, and Matthew [Russell-Jones] came up with this idea and started filming people randomly during warm-ups,” she said.

“It’s hysterically camp and crazy – the point is that we’re all laughing with each other. There’s something about this show that people who are in it become really connected.”

Langford, who plays the Lady of the Lake in the Monty Python musical at the Playhouse Theatre, added that she enjoyed filling Streisand’s shoes. “Well she is the ultimate diva. I’d heard the song before but I hadn’t seen the video until the boys showed it to me. It’s crazy!”
