Kristin Chenoweth’s debut UK tour cancelled

Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth‘s debut UK concert tour has been cancelled days before her first scheduled performance due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

A spokesperson for the show said: “We regret to announce that we are unable to present our planned UK tour with Tony and Emmy Award-winning star Kristin Chenoweth and that the tour has therefore been cancelled.

“We are deeply sorry to disappoint Kristin’s many UK fans, who so readily brought tickets to see her. We wish to make it clear that the decision to cancel the tour is a result of Speckulation Entertainment’s unforeseen circumstances, and that Kristin is saddened not to be able to perform here as planned. She was looking forward to performing to her sold-out audiences.”

Chenoweth Tweeted a picture of herself with a packed suitcase with the words, “Was ready to go. And now completely devastated. I am sorry to my UK fans. Not a good day. A horrible day.”

Best known for originating the role of Glinda in the original cast of Wicked, Chenoweth has received a Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for her performances as Sally in You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Eve in The Apple Tree and, most recently, Fran Kubelik in Promises, Promises.

Her UK show was due to open at the London Coliseum on 11 March, before visiting
the Manchester Opera House on 13 March, Edinburgh Festival Theatre on 15
March and Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on 17 March.
