Film producer JJ Abrams is to produce the Broadway run of The Play That Goes Wrong.

The Olivier Award-winning show is currently running in the West End and will also open on Broadway on 9 March, with an opening night on 2 April.

The show will run at the Lyceum Theatre and will star the original West End cast including Matthew Cavendish, Bryony Corrigan, Rob Falconer, Dave Hearn, Henry Lewis, Charlie Russell, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields, Greg Tannahill and Nancy Zamit.

Abrams said: "When I saw The Play That Goes Wrong on the West End, I hadn't laughed that hard – seen something as preposterously absurd or wonderfully hilarious – in ages. To be part of the team bringing this inspired comedy to Broadway is a true honor. "

Mischief Theatre's show follows the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they try to mount a 1920s murder mystery. The company currently have three shows on in the West End.
