Fans of new British musicals will enjoy this first listen to "The Diary Song" from Teresa Howard and Steven Edis' new musical I Capture the Castle, which debuts at the Watford Palace Theatre in April.

Based on the novel by Dodie Smith, the musical is a coming-of-age story set in bohemian England in the 1930s. 17 year-old Cassandra writes a diary about her eccentric family who are behind on the rent on the castle they live in. But things might change when their new landlord, a wealthy young American arrives.

Directed by Brigid Larmour, the cast features Lowri Izzard as Cassandra alongside Suzanne Ahmet, Kate Batter, Theo Boyce, Luke Dale, Isaac Stanmore, Julia St John, Ben Watson and Shona White.

I Capture the Castle runs at Watford Palace Theatre from 5 to 22 April, with previews from 31 March, and at the Octagon in Bolton from 26 April to 6 May 2017.
