Gina McKee will star in the UK premiere of Florian Zeller's The Mother at the Ustinov Studio, Bath next month.

Adapted by Christopher Hampton and directed by Laurence Boswell, the production will also feature Richard Clothier (Pierre), William Postlethwaite (Nicolas) and Cara Horgan (Élodie).

The play centres on Anne (McKee), whose children are grown and have lives and loves of their own. Spending hours alone, Anne has convinced herself that a weekend seminar in Dijon is a front for her husband Pierre's affair.

McKee's recent theatre credits include Richard III (Trafalgar Studios), King Lear (Donmar Warehouse) and Di, Viv and Rose (Hampstead Theatre).

French playwright Florian Zeller is also author of The Father, which formed part of the autumn 2014 Ustinov Studio season. The Mother, which premiered in 2011, was the winner of a Moliere Award, France's highest theatrical honour.

The Mother runs in Bath from 21 May to 20 June 2015.
