Wisteria Lane Meets West End in Housewives Musical???

It’s hardly a done deal, but much has been made in the press about actor Kyle MacLachlan’s hints that a stage musical adaptation of the TV series Desperate Housewives may be on the cards. In an interview with Heart radio, MacLachlan said: “I think it is a great idea. It makes sense. Mark (Mark Cherry, the series’ creator) has said that when he finishes his seven years at ABC he plans to go to Broadway and move into the musical world so maybe he does have some designs in that way. That’s all he’s said so far.”

MacLachlan also said he would consider appearing in any stage version himself: “You never know. It could happen. Never say never, right? There is more chance of that than seeing me in a Twin Peaks musical.”

In the American TV series, shown in the UK on Channel 4, McLachlan plays Orson Hodge, partner to fastidious housewife Bree, played by Marcia Cross. MacLachlan made his West End debut in 2002 opposite fellow Hollywood star Woody Harrelson in John Kolvenbach’s two-hander play On an Average Day.
