Rapp’s Without You transfers to Menier after Edinburgh

Actor Anthony Rapp’s autobiographical show Without You, adapted from his bestselling memoir about his friendship with Rent composer Jonathan Larson, will transfer to the Menier Chocolate Factory following its run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

In Without You Rapp shares his experience of being part of the original cast of Rent (playing Mark Cohen), which premiered off-Broadway in 1996 shortly after Larson’s death.

According to press material, “Rapp shares his experience of being a part of Rent – his audition, the casting process, rehearsals and his view from the stage during the tribute performance on the night after Jonathan’s tragic death. Without You also details Anthony’s achingly beautiful relationship with his mother during this turbulent time.”

Larson’s groundbreaking musical went on to be a Tony and Pulitzer Prize Award winner after it opened in New York in 1996. The Broadway production closed in 2008 after a 12-year run, making it the ninth-longest-running Broadway show at the time.

Without You will run at the E4 Cowbarn in Edinburgh from 1 to 26 August 2012, transferring to the Chocolate Factory from 29 August to 15 September.
