Alison Fitzjohn in Horrible Histories

Alison Fitzjohn is currently appearing in Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain – The Best Bits at the Apollo Theatre. Following that, she will appear in the stage adaptation of David Walliams' best selling children's book Gangsta Granny until January 2017.

Alison took us backstage to show us what she had in her dressing room at the Apollo.

You Mug!

AJ: We all need a favourite mug to drink from, ahis lovely lady was recently generously given to me by a Box Office lady at Darlington Civic Theatre the week before it closed. Darlington is very special to me as it was the first professional theatre I performed at with Horrible Histories in 2005.

The Partner in Crime

AJ: Some producer/writer/actor/director type called Neal Foster let himself into our dressing room… Of course, I joke! My partner in crime means so much to me and I love sharing time with him on and off stage.

The Magical Potions

AJ: These are my go to magic potions. The chewing gum serves two purposes: freshness of breath for those close up moments, and to get all the saliva working around the mouth for those tongue twister type lines. The Berocca is for those days when I'm wondering how am I going to get through this 10am show!

The Cards

AJ: It can get a little lonely on a job when you're away from home so a few cards and little bits and pieces from people you love and that love you mean a lot. Makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside. Awwww!

The Cross Stitch

AJ: I just like cross stitch. I enjoy how it allows me to switch off and after I've finished them I put them in a nice frame and give them away as gifts. Everyone's a winner – woo!

Horrible Histories – The Best of Barmy Britain runs at Apollo Theatre until 3 September.
