Dates and venues have been announced for the upcoming UK tour of Mike Bartlett's award-winning play King Charles III.

As previously announced, the tour will star Robert Powell in the title role.

Bartlett's 'future history' play imagines the fall-out when Prince Charles inherits the crown and insists on doing things differently from his mother.

Directed by the Almeida Theatre's artistic director Rupert Goold with Whitney Mosery, King Charles III is designed by Tom Scutt, with music composed by Jocelyn Pook, lighting by Jon Clark and sound by Paul Arditti.

The production will also open on Broadway this October at the Music Box Theatre, with Tim Pigott-Smith reprising the role of Charles.

King Charles III opens at Birmingham Repertory Theatre (4-19 September) and then visits:

Richmond Theatre (21-26 September)
