This coming Halloween, members of the Ambassador Theatre Group’s operations team will be spending the night at the company’s “most haunted” venue, the Fortune theatre, which has been the home of ghostly thriller The Woman in Black since 1989. There they will be joined by the Fortune’s management team in an evening of ‘spooks’ and ‘paranormal investigations’ entitled Fright Night.

Those taking part will kick off the evening by watching The Woman in Black, before being led on a tour of the theatre by a spiritual Medium, who will “identify paranormal hotspots” within the venue. The Medium will then lead a series of vigils and seances aiming to make contact with the “troublesome spirits” that reputedly haunt the venue, which opened in 1924.

But rest assured, Fright Night isn’t just an underhand way of trying to cut staff numbers during the credit crunch. It’s all for a good cause, with participants raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s ‘Theatres for Theatres’ appeal, a three year initiative aiming to raise £4million in order to fund two new state-of-the-art operating theatres used to treat children with life threatening conditions.
