A mixed bag of openings this week and your last chance to see three shows which all close on Saturday
From the producers of Seussical (West End), Spring Awakening (Debut UK Tour) and Lord of the Flies (UK Tour) Sell a Door Theatre Company revive this critically acclaimed musical at their London home the Greenwich Theatre before embarking on a 12 Week UK Tour.
When this play from Dennis Kelly (Matilda, Taking Care of Baby, Orphans) premiered at Theatre503 it transferred to the Battersea Arts Centre. The play about two orphaned teenagers returns to the stage in this production at the Southwark Playhouse that marks 10 years since its premiere.
Paula's Story, based on the moving story of Chickenshed's writer in residence Paula Rees, debuts at the Chickenshed this week.
Set in the late 1970s and 1980s, the play centres on Rees, who was born with cerebral palsy, and her family's "fight for their daughter's talent to be recognised".
According to press material, Paula's Story "takes us on an incredibly journey of love, courage and commitment in the belief that every human being has the right to be nurtured."
Paula Rees said: "Chickenshed have performed the story of my life several times – and it is my interpretations mixed with theirs that makes me want others to look at my life and say what they see. Watching my story performed by very committed people who believe in it, is the most moving experience and one which I feel privileged to have – everyone should have it."
William Houston, recently seen in Three Sisters at the Young Vic and Fortune's Fool at the Old Vic, playa the title role in the Globe's summer production of Titus Andronicus.
A restaging of Lucy Bailey's acclaimed 2006 production at the same venue, Titus will also star Indira Varma, recently seen in Jamie Lloyd's production of Pinter's The Hothouse at Trafalgar Studios, as Tamora.
