The theatre company recently lost their Arts Council funding
Monty Python star Terry Jones has leant his support to a campaign to save Red Ladder, the touring theatre company that recently lost its Arts Council grant.
The funding decision, which was made as part of the review of National Portfolio Organisations in July, means that Red Ladder has been left with just an annual grant of £5,000 from Leeds City Council.
But since then a campaign, 'Gis A Tenner', has been launched to enable the company to continue its work. The campaign was launched on the basis that if every one of Red Ladder's social media followers donated £10 to 'Save Red Ladder', they could raise £80,000.
The campaign's current total stands at £12,600 – enough to commission one and a half full length plays, to pay a cast of four actors for seven weeks, or to build two complete touring sets. It aims to raise £80,000, enough for one full length tour, by March 2015.

Red Ladder is currently co-producing the first ever stage adaptation of Jones' book, Nicobobinus, which will play at LOST Theatre in London in December before touring nationally next spring.
