The ”Withnail and I” star will appear as a hologram in the production which is due to open at the Leicester Curve in next week
Richard E Grant, whose prior work for the theatre includes The Importance of Being Earnest, The Play What I Wrote and My Fair Lady, will play Kraken: Lord of the Oceans – in a 3D hologram scene of new musical Water Babies.
Directed by Ed Curtis, with music by Chris Egan and book and lyrics by Ed Curtis and Guy Jones, this new musical opens at the Curve in Leicester on 6 May.
The full company is led by Louise Dearman (Mrs D), Tom Lister (Eel/Grimes), Thomas Milner (Tom) and Lauren Samuels (Ellie).
Water Babies follows Tom, an orphan who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. As he attempts to get away, he jumps from the edge of a waterfall where he meets Mrs D and a whole new world of enchantment, danger and adventure.
Tom must brave underwater challenges to get back to the girl he loves, however he soon finds it's not just his fate he holds in his hands, but also that of the mysterious and elusive gang of Water Babies.
