George Stiles and Anthony Drewe‘s new musical Soho Cinders was premiered at the Queen’s Theatre last night (9 October 2011) in a one-off gala performance held in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The musical’s debut, which also has a book by Elliot Davis, was proudly sponsored by Whatsonstage.com.

The cast for the concert included West End stars Hannah Waddingham, David Bedella, Beverly Rudd, Suzie Chard, Sharon D Clarke, Clive Carter, Richard David-Caine, Michael Xavier, Jos Slovick and Amy Lennox with the story narrated by Sandi Toksvig.

Billed as “Cinderella remixed”, the story focuses on Robbie (Slovick), a law student and rent boy, who ends up in a tangled relationship between James Prince (Xavier), a London mayoral candidate, and a major party donor (Carter) – who also happens to be one of Robbie’s clients. Robbie’s best friend Velcro (Lennox) and Prince’s fiance (Waddingham) are swept along for the ride alongside ugly sisters (Rudd and Chard) and campaign manager William George (Bedella).

The star-studded concert was topped off with a reception at Somerset House where the concert’s cast and crewe were joined by guests including Lewis Barnshaw, Nathaniel Morrison, Hayley Gallivan, Leanne Jones, Mark Anderson, Randy Buckley, Pressley Sutherland, Louise Beresford, Steven Webb, Richard Southgate, Hayley Gallivan, Tim Howar and Susie Mckenna.
