The cast of West End longrunner The Phantom of the Opera celebrated the 12,000th anniversary of the show last night, and WhatsOnStage was there to see it.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, which is directed by Harold Prince, is based on Gaston Leroux's gothic novel about a masked man who falls in love with an ingénue singer at the Paris Opera House. The show premiered on 9 October 1986 at Her Majesty’s Theatre, where it continues to run.

The cast is currently led by Gerónimo Rauch as The Phantom, with Harriet Jones as Christine and Liam Tamne as Raoul.
