Orange Tree announces new season from September 2018

The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond has announced its new season, including major revivals of plays by Jo Clifford, Martin Crimp and William Congreve.

Clifford's Losing Venice – not seen since 1985 – will be directed by Paul Miller in September. The piece looks at countries which once had an empire but are struggling to find a place in the modern world.

Dealing With Clair by Martin Crimp will run in October, directed by Richard Twyman in a co-production with English Touring Theatre. Originally seen at the Orange Tree thirty years ago, the piece examines the horrors beneath the surface of urban lives.

Congreve's restoration comedy The Double Dealer is directed by Selina Cadell in December. Cadell's recent work includes The Rivals at the Arcola and Love for Love for the RSC.

New works include Cougar by Rose Lewenstein, directed by Chelsea Walker in February 2019. The piece is a focus on who – and what – we consume and follows Leila and John who are having an affair.

The theatre's Christmas offering is Cant' Wait for Christmas!, a new show with live music for families and children aged 3-plus. A Midsummer Night's Dream for people with autism and their families returns to the theatre in November.
