The production marks the Pulitzer Prize-winning play’s first London revival
Olivia Poulet and William Ellis will star in a revival of Paula Vogel's Pulitzer Prize winning play How I Learned to Drive at Southwark Playhouse next month.
The production, which runs from 13 February to 14 March 2015 (previews from 11 February), marks the first London revival of the play since its 1998 premiere at the Donmar Warehouse starring Helen McCrory and Kevin Whateley.
How I learned to Drive centres on an adolescent girl and her relationship with her troubled uncle. The Southwark production is directed by Jack Sain, whose recent credits include Jonah and Otto at the Park Theatre.
Olivia Poulet, who plays Li'l Bit, is best known for The Thick of It and its spin-off film In the Loop. Her stage credits include Shivered (Southwark Playhouse), Product (Edinburgh Fringe), The Captain of Kopenick (National Theatre) and Top Girls (Chichester/West End).
William Ellis, who plays Uncle Peck, has recently appeared in Cinderella (Lyric Hammersmith), This Happy Breed (Theatre Royal Bath), The Importance of Being Earnest (Vaudeville Theatre) and The Voysey Inheritance (National Theatre).
The cast will also feature Holly Hayes (Taking Sides), Joshua Miles (Stink Foot) and Bryony Corrigan (Lights, Camera, Improvise!).
