The Old Vic Theatre will recreate its theatre-in-the-round configuration for a season of productions in 2014, beginning with the UK premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities in March.
The play, which will be directed by Lindsay Posner and runs from 24 March to 24 May 2014 (previews from 13 March) is a drama "deftly exploring family politics, love, loss and redemption". It was first seen at New York's Lincoln Center in 2010 starring Stockard Channing, before transferring to Broadway in 2011.
Brooke Wyeth returns to the family home in Palm Springs for the first time in six years with some incendiary
news for her Republican parents Polly and Lyman, her brother Trip and her recovering alcoholic aunt Silda.
She is about to publish a memoir about her family, exposing a pivotal moment in their painful and explosive
past, her actions threatening to push fractured family relations to a point beyond repair.
The transformation of the auditorium was first seen in 2008 for The Norman Conquests, as well as productions of Complicit and Dancing at Lughnasa, and is supported by CQS and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
American playwright and screenwriter Jon Robin Baitz is known for TV series Brothers and Sisters, and his other plays include The Substance of Fire, A Fair Country and Ten Unknowns. Director Lindsay Posner's credits include The Winslow Boy, Noises Off (Old Vic) and Uncle Vanya (Vaudeville).
Casting is to be announced for the production.
