The playwright returns with her first Almeida show
Kyle Soller will return to the London stage for the world premiere of Alice Birch’s Romans: a novel.
Birch’s play examines masculinity across two centuries and the ways in which it shapes the narratives around the present day. It will mark her Almeida debut (as part of Rupert Goold’s final season), with her previous stage credits including Anatomy of a Suicide at the Royal Court, [BLANK] at the Donmar Warehouse. and the National Theatre adaptation of The House of Bernarda Alba.
On screen, she’s penned the television versions of Normal People and Conversations with Friends, as well as the screenplays for Lady Macbeth, The Wonder and The End We Start From.
Romans runs later this year from 9 September to 11 October, while the creative team includes director Sam Pritchard, set and costume designer Merle Hensel, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Benjamin Grant and casting director Amy Ball.
The cast joining Soller in the production is to be revealed, with tickets going on sale early next month for members and the public.
