Moira Buffini to feature in latest Tonic Celebrates event

Dramatist, director, and actor Moira Buffini will feature on the panel for the next Tonic Celebrates event, which will be held at the National Theatre later this month.

Buffini wrote the book and lyrics for Damon Albarn's musical wonder.land, as well as writing Greenland, a play about global warming, with Penelope Skinner, Matt Charman and Jack Thorne. She also wrote the 2013 play Handbagged which looked at the relationship between the Queen and Margaret Thatcher.

She will be joined director of producing and planning for the National Sacha Milroy and designer Vicki Mortimer. The event will be chaired by the director of Tonic Theatre Lucy Kerbel. Milroy oversees producing at the National from development to stage, and Mortimer has designed over 25 productions at the theatre, including The Threepenny Opera, Here We Go and Hamlet.

The event will be held in the Dorfman on 23 February, with tickets costing £10. Click here to buy tickets.

Tonic Celebrates is a series of events which celebrates the achievements of inspirational women in theatre. The first event was held in June and featured Kerbel, Paule Constable, Indhu Rubasingham and playwright Jessica Swale.

Last month, it was announced that broadcaster Jenni Murray would present the first ever Tonic Awards which will recognise the achievements of women in theatre.
