Louise Jameson to star in Philip Ridley's Vincent River at the Park Theatre

Louise Jameson will star as Anita in the new revival of Philip Ridley's Vincent River, which runs at the Park Theatre in March.

Directed by Robert Chevara (In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel), the piece explores modern hate crime and the ways in which difference is perceived by society. It originally premiered at the Hampstead Theatre in 2000 and had a run at Trafalgar Studios in 2007. It then went on to have its US debut in 2008, directed by Steve Marmion.

Jameson's recent credits include playing Miss Marple in A Murder is Announced, and she formerly played Leela in Doctor Who opposite Tom Baker. Further credits include Tenko, Bergerac and EastEnders.

She will be joined by Thomas Mahy, who is making his London stage debut.

Ridley's other plays include The Pitchfork Disney, which was revived at Shoreditch Town Hall last year, Mercury Fur and Dark Vanilla Jungle (winner of an Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award). He is also the only writer to win the Evening Standard's Most Promising awards in both the film and theatre categories. His new play, Angry, will debut at Southwark Playhouse this month.

Vincent River runs at the Park Theatre from 23 March to 14 April, with previews from 20 March.
