Jodie McNee replaces Sinéad Matthews in Donmar’s Ilford Boy

Fun Home star Jodie McNee has joined the cast of Danny Lee Wynter’s Ilford Boy at the Donmar Warehouse.

Directed by Donmar artistic director Tim Sheader, the world premiere will begin previews on 10 October, officially open on 20 October and run until 28 November.

McNee will play Jackie, replacing Sinéad Matthews, who has withdrawn from the production to complete her recovery from a recent injury.

The production follows mixed-race teenager Ted Martin, who is growing up in 1990s East London in a household filled with chaos, laughter and tough love. His life is changed when Patrick arrives, bringing with him a new sense of style, humour and a love of show tunes.

The cast also includes Lindsey Coulson as Eileen, Cary Crankson as Trevor, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr as Ken, Aaron Gill as Raj, Charlotte Jaconelli as Ann, Craig Stein as Patrick, Leo Whitfield-Harris as Ted and Ria Zmitrowicz as Tillie.

Sheader directs, with Peter McKintosh as set designer, Ryan Dawson Laight as costume designer, Aideen Malone as lighting designer, Tony Gayle as sound designer, Ebony Molina as choreographer and intimacy director, Kate Waters as fight director, Eamonn O’Dwyer as composer and music supervisor, Carole Hancock as wigs, hair and make-up designer, Barbara Houseman as voice director and Hazel Holder as dialect coach. Phillippe Cato is associate director and Jessy Roberts is resident assistant director. Lotte Hines is casting director, with Lilly Mackie as casting associate.
