Willy Russell’s comedy/drama Educating Rita is part of the Library Theatre Company’s new season at its new brand home. The celebrated Manchester theatre company moves to First Street in 2014 when they combine forces with Cornerhouse.

The play, newly updated by its author, is seen as a modern classic, in which Rita, a down-to-earth straight-talking hairdresser, forces Frank, a jaded university lecturer, to question where his life has been and where he’s going.

The Library Theatre Company’s artistic director Chris Honer, who will be directing the production, describes Educating Rita as a “glorious comedy about the transforming power of culture.”

The play runs at The Lowry between 26 September – 12 October 2013.

The new season also includes The Seagull and the re:play festival and it’s the last season before the brand – HOME takes over – which combines film, theatre, art and food under one banner – featuring the Cornerhouse and the Library Theatre.
