The South London venue will play host to new musical ”The Bakewell Bake Off” next month, followed by a revival of Polly Stenham’s ”That Face” in November
The Landor Theatre has announced its autumn season, with new musical The Bakewell Bake Off running from 10-26 October 2013 (previews from 8 October) and the first London revival of Polly Stenham's That Face playing from 14 November to 1 December 2013 (previews from 12 November).
The Bakewell Bake Off, a new musical written by a group of postgraduate GSA students, is inspired by the BBC's Great British Bakeoff. It comes to the Landor following a run at Waterloo East Theatre earlier this year.
Directed by Julian Woolford, the cast includes recent GSA graduates Cerys Alley, Tom Beynon, Lucy Emmott, Will Ferris, Katherine Glover, Victoria Humphreys, Emily Jeffreys, Maura Matlak, Alexandra Spalding, Tim Stuart and Kayleigh Thadani.
The show, which "gently satirises modern Britain whilst celebrating all things 'cake'", follows seven contestants living in a small village entering a baking competition. Tickets for the production are onsale now.
The second show in the autumn season will be Polly Stenham's That Face, running from 12 November – 1 December 2013.
Marking Stenham's playwrighting debut, That Face is a portrayal of an affluent family in freefall. The original production starred Lindsay Duncan and Matt Smith.
The production will be directed by Tara Robinson, who is Michael Grandage's associate on A Midsummer Night's Dream. Her other directing credits include Political Me: Apology Songs and The Bomb.
Tickets are now onsale for the production. Casting is to be announced.
