Kiss Me, Kate to open in the West End

Opera North’s production will open in Leeds before moving to the London Coliseum

Opera North's production of Kiss Me, Kate is to open in the West End in June 2018.

The production will run at Leeds Grand Theatre from 23 to 26 May 2018 before opening at the London Coliseum from 20 to 30 June 2018. It is the first time Opera North's production has been staged in the capital.

With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, Kiss Me, Kate is about the production of musical version of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict between showrunner Fred Graham, and his ex-wife and leading lady Lilli Vanessi.

It features songs such as "Another Op’nin’ Another Show", "Brush Up Your Shakespeare", "Always True to You in My Fashion" and "Too Darn Hot".

The production is directed by Jo Davies, and the the full-scale orchestra and chorus of Opera North will be conducted by James Holmes and choreography is by Will Tuckett.

Casting is to be announced.
