Jermyn Street Theatre announces spring/summer season

Jermyn Street Theatre has announced its spring/summer season, continuing its 25th anniversary year.

In the run up to the general election, the schooling system comes under scrutiny in the world premiere of Jonathan Lewis's comedy A Level Playing Field, directed by Chris Popert.

Set in the music room of a top fee-paying London school, a group of 18-year-olds must sit out an hour of "isolation" to cover a clash of exams and avoid the risk of cheating. But their supervising teacher has failed to turn up, leaving them to deal with the dilemmas of the situation.

The production, which runs from 14 April to 6 May, will feature an 11-strong teenage cast.

Next up, from 12 May to 6 June, Jermyn Street presents the world premiere of Stewart Pemutt's comedy Home for Wayward Women. Directed by artistic Anthony Biggs, it's set in the home of retired psychiatrist Joy Westendarp, has opened up her abode to a range of women who have been rejected by the mental health system.

And closing the season will be Told Look Younger, a comedy about "sex, love, friendship and growing old". Written by Stephen Wyatt and directed by Sue Dunderdale the play, which runs from 9 June to 4 July, "offers a funny, tough and moving insight into the lives of older gay men".
