Pidgeon was previously deputy director at the theatre
James Pidgeon is to replace Nick Giles as artistic director of Shoreditch Town Hall.
Pidgeon had previously held the role of deputy director under Giles, who is leaving to pursue freelance projects. He has worked at Shoreditch Town Hall from 2013 and during his time at the venue has been involved in managing projects including Nigel Barrett and Louise Mari's Basement Grotto, YOUARENOWHERE and the recent productions of The Pitchfork Disney and Killer.
Giles said: "James is a unique talent and having worked alongside him for over four years I can think of no one better, or anyone I’d have more confidence in, to lead the Town Hall and continue its development."
Pidgeon commented: "It is an absolute honour to be given the opportunity to lead Shoreditch Town Hall during the next chapter of its journey, building on the vision and huge success of what Nick has achieved over the last five years.
"I’m incredibly excited for this next stage of the adventure as we further explore the possibilities that this unique building presents and inspires every day, creating bold and imaginative new work with a range of artists, broadening our artistic output for both new and existing audiences, heightening our national profile and reach, and further strengthening our role within the local Hackney community.
