As [title of show], a musical about people trying to make a musical, opens in London, another is reportedly in the works.

Hit TV series Glee is set to become a stage show, Fox network executive Gary Newman revealed during 21st Century Fox’s Investor Day recently (8 August 2013).

“We launched a live stage business with a sold-out arena concert tour in 2011,” he said. “And now a live stage musical is in the works.”

Glee, which stars Jane Lynch, Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison, first appeared on TV screens in 2009.

Set in an American high school, it centres on a group of students who find love and friendship in a choir club.

Two more TV series are reportedly in the works, despite the death earlier this year of principal cast member Cory Monteith.

If the stage show proves a hit Stateside, it seems likely to come to the UK considering the huge popularity of the show over here.

“When you identify the right creator and support a big, creative vision, you get a show like Glee“, added Newman, “which is exactly the kind of property that our studio excels at exploiting.”
