Full cast joining Adjoa Andoh in Shakespeare's Globe's Richard II announced

The production opens in the new year

Full casting has been announced for Richard II at Shakespeare's Globe, which opens in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on 22 February 2019.

Featuring in the first-ever company of women of colour in a Shakespeare play on a major UK stage will be the previously announced Adjoa Andoh (who co-directs the show with Lynette Linton) as the titular role, alongside Dona Croll (Pride and Prejudice), Shobna Gulati (Everybody's Talking About Jamie), Ayesha Dharker (White Teeth), Indra Ové (The Ugly One), Lourdes Faberes (Good Omens), Leila Farzad (Julius Caesar), Sarah Lam (Lucky Man), Sarah Niles (Leave Taking) and Nicholle Cherrie (Leave Taking).

The production will be designed by Rajha Shakiry with composition by Dominique Le Gendre and fight and movement direction by Yarit Dor.

Shakespeare's history follows the titular king who is challenged for his inadequacy as a leader. Photographer and artist Ingrid Pollard will also be documenting the production and rehearsals.
