Full cast and creatives announced for Heretic Voices monologue competition performances

The full cast and creative teams for the Heretic Voices monologue competition performances have been announced.

Picked from over a thousand submissions, the three winning writers, Annie Fox, Sonya Hale and Tatty Hennessy, will now have their monologues performed live by teams across a week at the East London venue. Their pieces were chosen by a panel consisting of Michael Billington, Lolita Chakrabarti, Monica Dolan and agent Mel Kenyon.

JMK award-winner Roy Alexander Weise will direct Ted Reilly in Hale’s Dean McBride, a piece set on a Croydon housing estate. Hale’s other plays include Glory Whispers at Theatre503. Weise has a busy 2018, directing shows at both Theatre503 and the National Theatre next spring.

Director Max Gill will reunite with Lauren Samuels to perform A Hundred Words for Snow by Hennessy, a monologue that describes a teenage girl’s solo journey to the North Pole with her father’s ashes. Gill's recent production of La Ronde is nominated for a WhatsOnStage Award for Best Off West End production, while Samuels is currently performing in Romantics Anonymous at Shakespeare's Globe.

The third monologue is Fox's Woman Caught Unaware, which will be directed by Jessica Edwards, whose recent credits include Punts at Theatre503 and the world tour of Denim. It will be performed by Amanda Boxer, who recently appeared in Lucy Kirkwood's Mosquitoes at the National Theatre.

The Heretic Voices monologues will be performed back-to-back at the Arcola Theatre between 9 and 20 January.
