Gilded Balloon
4 – 30 August, 18.45
The title is a bit of a misnomer. The performer is indeed called Felicity Ward but she is definitely not a moron and doesn’t really read from the stage prop book. Her distinctive angular look, tweed-suited and pipe smoking, immediately creates a distinctive impression. Possibly how George from Enid Blyton’s Famous Five might look all grown up. Not that Ward is a plummy English tomboy. She is an Aussie and a rising star of their comedy circuit.
Equally as individual is her take on the world, which she encapsulates in very funny little stories, told mainly at her own expense. They include her struggle with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which she manages to make rather a rather amusing tale.
Felicity Ward, debuted at the Fringe last year with a character based show but this year she is the character. The show is thoroughly entertaining, occasionally hilarious and definitely deserving of a bigger audience than she has been getting.
