The Sound of Music to be revived on Broadway – with lead casting confirmed

Artistic director Lear deBessonet’s second big musical at Lincoln Center Theater will be the first Broadway revival of The Sound of Music since 1998.

With a score by Rodgers and Hammerstein and a book by Lindsay and Crouse, The Sound of Music will run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater from 23 March 2027, with opening night on 15 April. It will star Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers as Maria Rainer.

Joining deBessonet on the creative team is Tony-winning choreographer Christopher Gattelli. Full details will be announced at a later date.

The season at Lincoln Center Theater kicks off with a revival of Aaron Sorkin’s A Few Good Men, starring Bradley Whitford and Tom Blyth and directed by Michael Arden. The season also includes a brand new play from John Proctor is the Villain scribe Kimberly Bellflower and director Danya Taymor, titled Born in the Dirt. The play is set in a “hospital” for hand-sewn dolls.

Also in the programme is August Wilson’s Seven Guitars, directed in a new revival by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. In addition, Sara Bareilles, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Pasek & Paul will perform one-night events at the Beaumont alongside rising songwriters
