The actress will replace Michelle Dockery who has withdrawn from the production
Producers have announced that Elaine Cassidy (Fathers and Sons, The Crucible, The Others]] will replace Michelle Dockery in the role of Madame de Tourvel in the Donmar’s production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Dockery has withdrawn from the production prior to the start of rehearsals.
Donmar Artistic Director Josie Rourke said:
"We are delighted to welcome Elaine Cassidy back to the Donmar playing Madame de Tourvel, I can’t wait to work with Elaine and our fantastic company when rehearsals start on Monday, and hope to work with Michelle in the future."
Rourke directs Christopher Hampton’s stage adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel, with a cast that includes Adjoa Andoh, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Morfydd Clark, Edward Holcroft, Janet McTeer, Jennifer Saayeng, Una Stubbs and Dominic West.
The production marks the 30th anniversary of Hampton's adaptation of the classic story of on sex, intrigue and betrayal in pre-revolutionary France.
