Clarke Peters' musical Five Guys Named Moe is to open in London in a new venue in Marble Arch.

The show, produced by Underbelly Productions, was due to open in a theatre on the Embankment Victoria, but the venue was stopped from opening by criticism from neighbours.

Five Guys Named Moe will now open in the Marble Arch Theatre, a new pop-up theatre that has been specifically designed for the production. The venue will echo the jazz bars of 1940s New Orleans and the action will take place in and around the theatre pre and post performance.

The production is directed by Peters and features jazz tunes from Louis Jordan including "Early In The Morning", "Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby" and "Saturday Night Fish Fry". Choreography is by Andrew Wright and set and costumes by takis. The musical originally opened at Theatre Royal Stratford East in 1990 and transferred to the West End where it played for four years. It transferred to Broadway in 1992.

Peters said: "It's a rare and wonderful thing to have the chance to direct a show that not only you have created but also performed in. It's an honour to return to it on its 25th anniversary and reimagine the show in this new theatre space; one which is perfect for creating a closeness and dynamic energy between the story and the audience. "

The show runs from 29 August to 25 November 2017, with an opening night on 14 September. Tickets are on sale now.
