Hotbed: A Festival of Sex will feature work by Louise Orwin and Pony Boy Curtis
Camden People's Theatre have announced a new festival of sex in April.
Titled Hotbed, the festival runs from 25 April to 14 May, and will feature new work by like likes of Louise Orwin, Chris Goode, Greg Wohead and Lois Weaver.
The festival aims to 'expand your carnal knowledge', with a series of performances that will look at sex-positivity, the difficulties of representing sex onstage, the ubiquity of porn and the secrets of your sexual fantasies.
The festival is headlined by Oh Yes Oh No, a new show by performance artist Orwin, which is about "real sex, with real bodies". The piece opens on 26 April and will run until 11 May. In 2013, Orwin's piece Pretty Ugly headlined the theatre's first Calm Down, Dear Festival of Feminism.
Former CPT artistic director Chris Goode will return to the theatre with his 'avante-garde performance boyband' Ponyboy Curtis. They will premiere their piece walk pause walk, which is inspired by sources ranging from skate culture to contemporary gay porn, from 12 to 14 May.
Propolis Theatre will present a new show, Spill, which is based on the answers of people from all different backgrounds about what sex really is. It will run from 27 to 29 April. The theatre company says it wants to "give you the chance to be voyeurs without feeling guilty about it". It will run from 27 to 29 April.
Rebecca Atkinson-Lord & Greg Wohead will share their own experiences fantasies, mistakes and hopes about sex in Snowballing on 10 and 11 May.
Guggenheim-winning artist Lois Weaver will explore sex at midlife and beyond in What Tammy Needs to Know About Getting Old and Having Sex on 6 May.
