The musical was broadcast live to eight countries on Sunday
It has been announced that Billy Elliot – The Musical, which was filmed and broadcast live around Europe yesterday, will be available on Blu-ray and DVD from 24 November.
A record breaking twenty-five former and current Billy Elliots performed a specially choreographed mash-up finale on the Victoria Palace stage as part of the special performance that was broadcast live to eight countries.
All three original Billys – James Lomas, George Maguire and Liam Mower – took part in the spectacular finale. Screenings also took place at the historic Easington Social Welfare Centre, formerly the Easington Colliery Miners’ Institute, one of the settings for Billy’s inspiring story.
In addition to this weekend’s live broadcast, the performance will be screened to a further nine countries across four continents and due to public demand, it is also announced today that encore screenings will take place in 350 cinemas throughout the UK on 2, 3, 4 and 5 October.
Elliott Hanna, 11 years old from Liverpool, led the cast and was joined by Liam Mower, who made his return to the show in the role of Older Billy for this special event, having been the first boy to play the role of Billy Elliot on stage in 2005. The performance was introduced by Billy Elliot‘s director Stephen Daldry.
