Academy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Ariana DeBose will return to host the 76th Annual Tony Awards, as she did last year. This year, however, the ceremony will be held at the historic United Palace in Washington Heights instead of the usual Radio City Music Hall location.
“I was honored to serve as host last year and even more so to be asked back! So looking forward to celebrating this incredible season and the people who make the work happen. Here’s to adding some uptown flavor to the magic of the Tony Awards!” said DeBose, who was last on Broadway in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, earning a Tony nomination for her performance as “Disco Donna.” Since then, DeBose has appeared as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story, for which she won an Academy Award.
The Tony Awards eligibility cut-off date for the 2022-23 season is Thursday, 27 April for all Broadway productions that meet the eligibility requirements. Nominations for the 2023 Tony Awards will be announced on Tuesday, 2 May.
