Kiss of the Spider Woman will receive its first major UK revival in over 30 years next year.

The news was revealed as part of a series of Made at Curve productions and co-productions.

Kander and Ebb’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical is based on Manuel Puig’s novel and adapted for the stage by Terrence McNally. It follows Molina and Valentin, forced into an unlikely friendship in the cell they share in a brutal prison. In an attempt at escapism, Molina fantasises about glamorous movies and the tales of the Spider Woman.

A new film adaptation of the musical, starring Jennifer Lopez, will be released later this year.

The revival, a Made at Curve, Bristol Old Vic and Mayflower Southampton co-production, will be directed by Paul Foster.

It will feature choreography by Joanna Goodwin, set design by David Woodhead, costume design by Gabriella Slade, orchestrations and arrangements by Sarah Travis, lighting design by Howard Hudson, and sound design by Matt Peploe. Casting is by Stuart Burt.

Anna-Jane Casey will star as Aurora.

Curve’s chief executive Chris Stafford and artistic director Nikolai Foster said: “We have wanted to produce Kander and Ebb’s epoch-defining Broadway musical Kiss of the Spider Woman for many years and we are thrilled it arrives at Curve in a brand-new production by the acclaimed director Paul Foster, with the fearless and incomparable Anna-Jane Casey in the title role. Working with our partners at Bristol Old Vic and Mayflower Southampton, we can’t wait to experience the intensity and excitement of this magnificent musical, up close in our Studio Theatre.”

Musicians for this production are sponsored by music licensing company PPL.

The production will run in Curve’s Studio Theatre from 3 to 25 April 2026, at Bristol Old Vic from 29 April to 16 May 2026, and at Mayflower Studios from 2 to 6 June 2026.

Further cast and creative team members will be announced in due course.
