Elton John and Andrew Lloyd Webber are working on an animated film adaptation of the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The announcement was made at Las Vegas film convention CinemaCon by American producers STX Entertainment.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tim Rice is also on board to work on the film which will be produced by STX and John's production company Rocket Pictures, in association with Really Useful Group.

The feature film will have new music written by Lloyd Webber and Rice, but work on the film is in the very early stages. Audiences at CinemaCon were shown some storyboards of the film.

Joseph… is based on the "coat of many colors" story from the Book of Genesis, and features songs such as "Any Dream Will Do" and "Close Every Door".

Last week, it was reported that Lloyd Webber is keen to work with One Direction singer Liam Payne on a produciton of the musical in the West End. In past productions, the title role has been played by Jason Donovan, Joe McElderry and Phillip Schofield.
