Maureen Lipman is to return to the West End in Peter Quilter’s Allegra at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
The play centres on Allegra, a woman whose enthusiasm for life repeatedly manifests itself in spontaneous bursts of song.
The production will play a limited four-week run at the Pinter Theatre from 8 July to 8 August 2026, coming directly after its ongoing UK tour.
Lipman, who was last in the West End in Rose in 2023, leads the cast in Quilter’s latest work, directed and choreographed by Stephen Mear. The pair reunite nearly three decades after first collaborating on the National Theatre’s production of Oklahoma!.
Joining Lipman in the cast are John Middleton (Emmerdale), Elizabeth Bower (Trollied) and Bailey Patrick (London Kills).
Producer Thomas Hopkins said: “Working again with Maureen after the remarkable West End success of Rose is an absolute privilege. Bringing this joyful show to London’s West End is the gift we all need.”
The creative team includes set and costume designer Justin Williams, lighting designer Samuel Biondolillo, sound designer Russell Ditchfield, video designer Ben Bull for Big Tele, production management by Setting Line, general management and tour booking by Thomas Hopkins Productions, and casting director Rob Kelly.
The production is produced by Thomas Hopkins Productions, SAMS Entertainment, Melissa and Bradford Coolidge and Trunfio McGill.
Co-producers are Kohl Beck and Jonathan Kaldor, John Biondolillo, Cason Crane, Susan Goulet, Ira Pittelman, Haley Swindal and Liesl Wilke.
