David Eldridge’s play opened in the West End last night
The West End transfer of Beginning had its opening night last night, and celebrated with a number of famous names.
The show's star Sam Troughton was joined by his father and actor David Troughton (recently seen in the RSC's Titus Andronicus), with comedian Miles Jupp, politician Alex Salmond and Poldark star Heida Reed also present at the show.
David Eldridge's piece, set at the end of a housewarming party, sees an awkward courtship between a pair of 30-somethings. It is performed by Troughton alongside Justine Mitchell, with direction by Polly Findlay.
In our review of the show's National Theatre run, critic Sarah Crompton described it as "honest, funny and good-hearted."
Beginning runs at the Ambassadors Theatre until 24 March.
