A bit more casting has been set for the Wicked movies.
Award-nominated stage star Adam James, whose notable credits include King Charles III at the Almeida, in the West End and on Broadway, as well as the West End transfer of Girl from the North Country, has joined the eagerly anticipated screen adaptation of the long-running stage show.
He most recently returned to the Hampstead Theatre for a new revival of The Memory of Water, while other appearances include in Bull, Consent and Shipwreck. On screen, he’s appeared in the fourth season of You, I May Destroy You and Doctor Foster.
James is now set to appear as Glinda’s Father in the upcoming Wicked movie, a role that didn’t appear on stage. He joins a cast including Ariana Grande as his character’s daughter Glinda, Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple) as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey (Cock, Bridgerton) as Fiyero and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) as Madame Morrible.
The first part of Jon M Chu’s adaptation of the stage show is due to be released in November 2024, with some teaser images already unveiled.
The news was recently confirmed by James’ agents.
