From chicken wings to Meryl Streep, we catch up with the ”Game of Thrones” actress to find out what’s on her list
Gwyneth Keyworth is a Welsh actress best known for her TV roles in Misfits, The Great Outdoors and Game of Thrones. A RADA graduate, Gwyneth is currently starring in The Life and Times of Fanny Hill with Phoebe Thomas and Caroline Quentin at Bristol Old Vic.
We caught up with Gwyneth to find out a few of her favourite things.
Film?
My favourite film is West Side Story, my sister and I would spend hours crashing about our house when we were little trying to reenact the dances, perfecting our best Puerto-Rican/New York accents and fighting over who got to play Maria for the finale.
However this is really very closely followed by Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. The emotional and psychological drive of this sharp-tongued black comedy always has me gripped no matter how many times I watch it, and Elizabeth Taylor's performance is brutally brilliant.
Place to hang out?
There is a shared roof space on top of my building, someone has rather precariously hung a hammock, after you negotiate yourself into it that's a pretty great spot to look out over London.
Restaurant?
Chicks On Fire just off Holloway road, I love it. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are always friendly, the food is delicious, the portions are generous and it's all reasonably priced. It's the stuff dreams are made of. Unless you've a fear of chicken. I usually order 'Oh My Wings'. Seriously it's the best. Unless you've a fear of chicken.
Holiday Destination?
I haven't really been on that many holidays as such. After I left school I saved up to go travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia, that was amazing. And a couple of years ago I bussed about the south of Spain for a few weeks with friends on a shoestring budget which was really fun, I'd love to do more travelling. As a child our summer holidays were usually spent camping on my great aunt's lawn in Pembrokeshire which was really very damp or visiting my aunty on the Isle of Skye, also pretty damp. But Skye is probably my favourite, its black sand beaches and jagged mountains are otherworldly.
Play/Musical that you have seen?
Tough one, maybe Ecstasy at Hampstead Theatre.
Actress/Actor?
I admire lots of actors, Sinead Matthews, Jodie Whittaker, Fiona Shaw, Olivia Coleman, Idris Elba, James McAvoy, Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, how can you pick a favourite when what they do is so unique? Also I'm terrible at making decisions.
Theatre to Visit?
I have lots of fond memories of the Soho Theatre from when I preformed there with the National Youth Theatre. I love the variety of stuff they put on and I'm a big fan of the bar afterwards.
Theatre you’ve performed in?
Bristol Old Vic Theatre really looks after everyone, it's got a lovely vibe and the facilities are top.
Moment in The Life and Times for Fanny Hill?
Watching Phoebe Thomas perform what we lovingly call the 'cock sock'.
