Kevin Clifton and Antony Costa join Rock of Ages UK tour

The tour opens this month and will see Kevin Clifton and Antony Costa take on the role of Stacee Jaxx in 2019

Kevin Clifton and Antony Costa will join the UK tour of Rock of Ages in 2019.

The pair will play the role of Stacee Jaxx at different points throughout the tour from 22 January until 27 July.

Clifton, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, made his musical theatre debut in Dirty Dancing in the West End. Costa, who was part of the boy band Blue, has previously appeared in shows including Blood Brothers and Save the Last Dance for Me.

Clifton will play the role of Jaxx from 22 January until 6 April 2019 and from 11 June until 27 July 2019. Costa will join the production for eight weeks from 8 April until 1 June 2019. Sam Ferriday will play the role until 9 December.

The pair will perform alongside the previously announced Kevin Kennedy as Dennis, Zoe Birkett who plays Justice, Luke Walsh as Drew, Lucas Rush as Lonny, Jodie Steele as Sherrie, Andrew Carthy as Franz, Vas Constanti as Hertz and Rhiannon Chesterman as Regina.

Danielle Hope will appear in the show until 24 November.

Also joining the cast are Erin Bell, Alexander Day, Joshua Dever, Paris Green, Sinead Kenny, Ryan Lee-Seager, Adam Strong, Saran Webb and Bobby Windebank.

The tour opens this month in Bromley before visiting initial venues including Manchester, Wycombe, Darlington, Dublin, Liverpool, Cardiff, Birmingham, Dartford and Sheffield.

With a book by Chris D'Arienzo and arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp, Rock of Ages premiered on Broadway in 2009 and was nominated for five Tony Awards. It transferred to the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2011 and the Garrick in 2013, and previously embarked on a UK tour in 2014.
