British comedy drama Pride could be set for the West End stage, screenwriter Stephen Beresford has revealed.

The writer is "in talks" with producers about turning the hit film into a musical, telling London Live: "We have talked about that, yes, it has been discussed, I think it could work."

Telling the true story of a group of LGBT activists who raised money for striking miners in 1984, Pride features a cast including Imelda Staunton, Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott and Dominic West, and is directed by soon-to-be Old Vic artistic director Matthew Warchus.

If it does make it to the stage, it will follow in a line of British films that have made it to the West End including Billy Elliot, Made in Dagenham and The Full Monty.
