Ensemble casting announced for Hamilton in the West End

It follows the news that Jamael Westman has been cast in the titular role

Ensemble casting has been announced for the West End production of Hamilton, due to open at the Victoria Palace in November.

It follows the news that Jamael Westman will make his West End debut as Alexander Hamilton, with Michael Jibson taking on the role of King George and Ash Hunter will play Hamilton at certain performances.

The ensemble will include Courtney-Mae Briggs (In The Heights), Jack Butterworth (Billy Elliot), Marsha Songcome (Miss Saigon), Jon-Scott Clark (Shrek the Musical), Miriam-Teak Lee (On The Town) and Alexzandra Sarmiento (Strictly Ballroom).

They will be joined by Jade Albertsen, Curtis Angus, Jonathan Bishop, Kelly Downing, Leslie Garcia Bowman, Lia Given, Gregory Haney, Leah Hill, Barney Hudson, Waylon Jacobs, Phoebe Liberty, Christopher Tendai and Lindsey Tierney.

They join the previously announced cast which includes Christine Allado, Rachelle Ann Go, Tarinn Callender, Rachel John, Jason Pennycooke, Cleve September, Giles Terera and Obioma Ugoala.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical about one of America's founding fathers was nominated for 16 Tony Award nominations in 2016, with Best Musical among its 11 Tony wins.

Hamilton opens at the Victoria Palace on 7 December, with previews from 21 November 2017.
