Casting announced for RSC's Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra

Josette Simon and Antony Byrne will lead the cast of ”Antony and Cleopatra”

The RSC has announced casting for the first two of four plays in its Rome season.

Andrew Woodall (The Wars of the Roses) will play the title role in Angus Jackson's production of Julius Caesar alongside Alex Waldmann (King John) as Brutus.

Julius Caesar will run in rep with Iqbal Khan's production of Antony and Cleopatra, which will see Josette Simon play Cleopatra alongside Antony Byrne as Antony. Woodall will play Enobarbus.

Joseph Adelakun, Ben Allen, Kristin Atherton, Will Bliss, David Burnett, James Corrigan, Paul Dodds, Patrick Drury, Waleed Elgadi, Sean Hart, Martin Hutson, Amber James, Tom Lorcan, Luke MacGregor, Tom McCall, Hannah Morrish, Anthony Ofoegbu, Dharmesh Patel, Lucy Phelps, Jon Tarcy and Marcello Walton.

Joining the repertoire in June, Titus Andronicus will star David Troughton in the titular role and will be cross cast with Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra. Full casting for Titus Andronicus and Coriolanus will be announced soon.

Julius Caesar runs in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from 3 March to 9 September 2017, Antony and Cleopatra from 11 March to 7 September 2017 and Titus Andronicus from 23 June to 2 September 2017. Coriolanus dates to be announced.
