Yaël Farber to make Donmar debut in new season

The Donmar Warehouse has announced two new productions for its autumn season, with Yaël Farber due to make her directing debut at the venue.

From 22 August Farber, whose acclaimed productions include The Crucible at the Old Vic and Les Blancs at the National, will direct David Harrower’s modern classic Knives in Hens.

The thriller, which tells the story of a ploughman's struggle with a hated local miller, features a cast including Christian Cooke (Experience, Hampstead), Judith Roddy (The Plough and the Stars, National Theatre), and Matt Ryan (Hamlet, Wyndham's).

A new version of Ibsen's The Lady From The Sea by Elinor Cook will follow from 18 October. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, who returns following his hit staging of One Night In Miami, the production will star Nikki Amuka-Bird (God Bless The Child, Royal Court).

The BAFTA (NW) and Ian Charleson Award (Twelfth Night) winner will play Ellida, a lighthouse-keeper’s daughter, who is trapped in her marriage and longs for the sea.

Simon Evans' production of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui completes its run at the Donmar this week, and the current season concludes with the new musical The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee Takes Oral Evidence on Whitehall’s Relationship with Kids Company, by Hadley Fraser, Josie Rourke and Tom Deering.

Knives in Hens runs at the Donmar Warehouse from 22 August to 7 October, with previews from 17 August. The Lady From The Sea runs from 18 October to 2 December, with previews from 12 October.
