Celia Imrie has been a household name on stage and screen for many years, with a successful career spanning almost four decades. As her cabaret show Laughing Matters comes to the St James Theatre, she reveals some of her favourite things.

What/who is your favourite:

Film?

All About Eve because of the brilliance of the story and the entire cast, especially Bette Davis, George Sanders, Marilyn Monroe and Celeste Holm.

Place to hang out in London?

In any of the luxurious London parks. Or on a boat on the Thames.

Restaurant?

Sarastros 126, Drury Lane. I'd order one of their scrumptious mezze platters.

Holiday destination?

South of France, because of the turquoise sea and the glamour.

Show you've seen?

Candide in New York in 1975, or more recently the Royal Ballet's new production of A Winter's Tale.

Theatre to visit?

La Scala in Milan; I love the thought of Maria Callas mesmerising the audiences there. Or sitting in the wings of The Royal Opera House watching the ballet of Romeo and Juliet.

Theatre to perform in?

The Old Vic, because of its beauty and your constant reminder of all the glory days and the dames and sirs that played on the stage and stairs before you.

Actress/actor?

Lucille Ball / Jacques Tati

Moment in your cabaret show?

A glass of champagne at the end.
