Chariots of Fire posts early closing notices at Gielgud Theatre, 5 Jan

Mike Bartlett‘s stage adaptation of Chariots of Fire, which transferred to the West End in June last year following a run at Hampstead Theatre, has posted early closing notices at the Gielgud Theatre. The production will close on Saturday (5 January 2013), having originally been booking until 2 February.

Edward Hall‘s production, which is staged in the round and sees actors
racing on a track through the stalls, premiered at the Hampstead
Theatre in May ahead of the London Olympics.

Adapted from Colin Welland’s Oscar-winning
screenplay, it’s billed as “one of the most thrilling Olympic stories”,
and centres on two great athletes – Eric Liddell  and Harold Abrahams – who overcame prejudice and
personal strife to compete in the 1924 Paris Olympics.

The cast features Jack Lowden as Eric Liddell and James McArdle as Harold Abrahams, alongside Nickolas Grace, Henry Davis, David Beames, Isabella Calthorpe, Gareth Charlton, Zac Fox, Daniel Fraser, Leigh Lothian, David McGranaghan, Aki Omoshaybi, Matthew Pearson, Savannah Stevenson, Paul Tinto, Dylan Turner, Gabriel Vick, Simon Williams, Tam Williams and Nicholas Woodeson.
